Why we choose these high-impact natural constituents to support thyroid function:
- Iodine is used by the body to synthesize T3 (triiodothyronine) and T4 (thyroxine).
- Selenium and Zinc are co-factors responsible for activating thyroid compounds by converting T4 to active T3 and helping maintain thyroid hormone stability.
- Blue Iris is found in these formulas exclusively, to effectively detoxify the thyroid and enhance T4-T3 conversion in peripheral tissues.
Can Thyroid Px or ThyroCare Be Used in Conjunction with Medications?
We often are asked if Thyroid Px and ThyroCare can be taken along with a patient’s thyroid medications. The answer is yes, it’s safe to use them together! The nutrients in these formulas support the conversion of T4 to T3. We recommend being watchful when combining Thyroid Px or ThyroCare with heart-stimulating thyroid medications, such as T3. The formulas may potentiate thyroid hormone therapy, especially after 1-3 months. Therefore, clinicians may notice that hypothyroid patients need to adjust their dose of the medication within 1-3 months of using these formulas.
Of course both formulations are contraindicated with “hot” thyroid nodules and tachycardia. Be sure to monitor patients for iodine sensitivity.
